BCL attacks students for ‘half pass’ claims

BCL attacks students for ‘half pass’ claims. Movement of students of Dhaka College, Dhaka City College and Dhanmondi Ideal College has been attacked demanding issuance of notification for fixing half fare for students in public transport. The agitating students have alleged that the BCL carried out the attack.

Witnesses said BCL Dhaka College unit activists pounced on the students while they were preparing for a rally in Science Lab via New Market intersection.

Students allege that before the attack, BCL leaders and activists started arguing against them alleging vandalism of a motorcycle parked on the side of the road. They were then attacked with sticks during the altercation. Some students have been attacked.

The students further said that after the attack in the first phase, when the students gathered at the corner of the science lab, the BCL carried out another attack. During the attack, all the students wearing school-college uniforms were beaten in the street.

In this regard, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) New Market Zone (ADC) Shahen Shah Mahmud said that a chaotic situation was created at the corner of Science Lab centered around the vandalism of a motorcycle of a student of Dhaka College. We calmed both sides and sent them to their respective colleges.
